Today I am delighted to have on my couch the amazing Renee Rose, talking about her sci-fi spankfest, The Hand of Vengeance. Over to you, Renee!
Thank you so much for having me today, Heather. Is there anything in particular you would like to know?
That's a pretty clever title. How did you come up with it?
Well, the book gets its name from the hero, Blade Vengeance. The rebels use code phrases when using their communications units and his identifier is: The hand of vengeance strikes. Obviously, I love the double entendre of having that in a spanking romance! :)
So do I. It sounds intriguing so please tell us a bit more about the story.
Well, the heroine is a doctor on a humanitarian mission from Earth. When she’s kidnapped by the rebels to perform a difficult surgery, their airship is shot down and she’s stranded in a canyon with Blade. She doesn’t know anything about living in the wild, so she’s forced to rely on the intimidating warrior for survival.
Sounds intriguing. Would you mind sharing a little snippet for our readers?
I would love to, Heather. Here goes:
She suffered from Stockholm syndrome. That was the only explanation. Because Blade’s muscled arm heavily draped across her waist should not have her feeling so safe and...dear lord—did she actually feel snugly?
She barely remembered the first and only time she’d slept with a man. Not since her first year of higher education, when she’d been only eighteen, determined to try out this thing called sex. It had been horrible. Awkward and painful and followed by a long night of trying not to move with another person’s limbs flung over her.
She probably hadn’t slept any better last night, but she’d been warm, and actually felt protected and safe. She still wore Blade’s jacket and hat, and the memory of him dressing her in them made something warm and gooey move behind her sternum. When was the last time anyone had taken care of her needs? Well, sure—her staff did. They’d do anything she asked, and they looked out for her, too, bringing her food or hot tea when she forgot to take care of herself. But not a man. Not like this. She realized Blade was acting the part of the Jeselian gender archetype—man as protector. And authority. She squeezed her cheeks together, at the memory of his discipline. No residual pain. Her movement caused an answering stirring from Blade—his cock twitching against her buttocks.
In a flash, he rolled away and stood up, towering above her. His coal-black gaze pinned her to the ground where she lay helpless to move. Something about the sight of him—the enormous, dominant size, the gorgeous ripple of muscle, the shocking markings on his face made her limbs go weak. She literally couldn’t make herself swallow, much less speak.
Well, I for one can't wait to read it. What girl doesn't go weak at the knees at the thought of rippling muscles? So thank you for joining us today, it was fun!
You're very welcome, Heather. Thanks for having me!
